My name is Kari, and I’d like to welcome you to my site! First, let me tell you a little bit about myself and some of my accomplishments.
Let’s start at the beginning…
At the ripe, old age of 17 I had graduated high school and was promptly kicked out of my house. For the next three years I lived my best life… or so I thought. By the time I was 20 I had lost my job, was evicted from my apartment, had student loans for college classes I never attended, built up more credit card debt than my actual credit limit, and maintained a credit score somewhere in the low 600’s. This was my rock bottom.
Now it was time to face the music and turn my life around.
In June of 2004, I enlisted with the U.S. Air Force and completely changed my life. Training was tough, and the lifestyle adjustment was even tougher; but with the help of my peers, and guidance from some amazing leadership, I was able to turn my life around.
Ten years of life in the military, coupled with my work as a Department of Defense federal employee, gave me more in experience than I could learn from a single degree. As I rose in ranks, I honed my leadership skills to be able to help those around me; I took advantage of every opportunity available to master different programs and develop local procedures. Eventually, I became the subject matter expert, and people knew they could count on me for accurate and decisive answers.
Over the years I have received many accolades, most notably being recognized as the Outstanding Aviation Resource Management Civilian of the Year twice at the Major Command level for the Air Force Materiel Command and once at the Headquarters Air Force level (that’s as high as it gets in the Air Force)!
I learned from those who walked before me; I listened to those who walked behind me; and I taught those who walked beside me.
Now, after nearly two decades of working with the military, marriage, three kids, and countless moves around the world, I have gained a positive reputation full of respect, the capability to be a successful mentor, financial stability, a credit score holding steady above 800, and I am finally living my best life.
I have gone through the hard times and come out the other end, and now I want to share everything I have learned along the way with you! Hopefully, with the combination of my military and life experiences, I can guide you down the path of life to become a successful adult!
